Amazing science of Vedic Astrology

I am currently reading the book "Science of Light" by Shri Freedom Cole , an introduction to Vedic Astrology. The book traces the origins of the Vedas, the various hindu mythologies and its relationships to the various veda shastras (Astrology being one of them) . The author proceeds to talk in detail about vedic astrology right from the basis foundational principles of astronomy, signs, planets and their relationships to the complex details on chart reading and interpretation. The author manages to cover a significant portion of the Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra (BPHS), the astrology encyclopedia of the great sage Parashara in a very easy to understand conversationalist style. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to understand the basics and a bit more of vedic astrology.

Personally, my journey as i read this book is a self-awakening one. I am now beginning to see the meaning of the various hindu mythologies , the various shlokas and practices i grew up with. I was filled with a great sense of pride sampling how advanced and scientific my country was in creating and preserving the knowledge of the Vedas and its associated fields. I do realize the complexity and maturity required to understand the deeper meaning and life significance of these texts are enormous. I am hopeful that as i move through this journey of life, i derive the experiences to learn, reflect and do my karma to the best of my potential and for the the larger good.

My views on networking as a tool

Post MBA i hear more often the term "Networking" ... i see friends go out of the way to network and create friends both at work and outside work.

But I really wonder is it worth the effort ..what is the object of the so called networking..is it worth the time invested in building a particular relationship...how much time is adequate time to invest in a relationship ?

Meeting people over birthday parties / networking events (business club dinners) ..do they really build relationships that translate into favors/jobs (i guess thats what most people mean by networking) ?

I really believe that the best relationships are those not sought by you but those that approach you, relationships formed through group activities over a considerable amount of time , relationships with no mutual expectations to begin with, relationships which you know you can exercise/benefit from but you never need to .

I love parties but i would like to be myself there with no agendas to make friends with people and pressures to "network"

Better Late than never

Its been over 6 months since my last blog ...have completed 4 terms at ISB and in the middle of 5th term.

Time really flies here ...i was catching up with blogs of fellow ISB-ians today and helped me look at my expierience in new light. This spurred me to think that I should do my little bit to this cause and my blogging wud help someone else out in e-space.

Its amazing how change can transform oneself !! I feel an MBA education is all about trauma transformation. Doing a one-year MBA where 2 years of education is stuffed in break-neck speed stretching every limb and nerve .........whoa , it has helped me affirm what i am good at what i need to do in future.

The initial days of not knowing anyone to knowing quite a lot by name and almost everyone by face seemed a tough task but turned out to be quite a easy one. Preparation for cases, submission of assignment, juggling deadlines and time was a tough proposition in term 1 ...no longer now.

There is enthusiasm and confidence flowing in everyone ... hard to explain why and how , but it has happened. We all have been unconsciously geared to outperform ourselves everyday , be it in class partipation, contests, sports etc. The way i put it is "Minds have been unlocked".

Keen to see what the next 4 terms have in store with placements and all ....am sure that with the amazing batch this time, all records will be broken.

Countdown to ISB ..9 days to go

My last week in GE ...final stages of transitioning my work to this new hire.

Have my exit interview on Monday and its adieu to GE for now.

Have to work on the logistics and shift to ISB from my current home (Begumpet) ..luckier than others who have to move in from other cities.

Noticed a lot of new bloggers from my batch .. some of the postings were quite interesting.

Also realised that its been quite a while since my first posting ..nearly a month.

Hopefully i should be a regular blogger once i get into ISB .

Welcome to my First Blog Posting

I wonder what took me so long to start my own blog ...been reading blogs of friends for nearly a year now.

The bug just caught me and here iam making my first post in my new created blog "Srini Musings". Propose to use it as a forum to ramble my thoughts in the form of words.

A quick intro about myself -

A pucca Chennaite - B.Com , CA (1999)
6+ Years of Experience, 4 Yrs + in GE.
Certified GE Black Belt in Six Sigma .
R1 Admit to ISB, Batch of 2005-2006.
Recently Married - Jan 05.

Currently in my last month with GE and looking forward to an academic life once again.
